This season, we’ve teamed up with Fort Worth artist Catherine Cartie for a collab that’s all about transformation, artistry, and trying something completely new.
Catherine’s painterly eye for color and whimsical details come through in two brand new designs: the Butterfly Scarf Necklace Set, our first ever scarf necklace, and the Butterfly Statement Charm. These limited-edition pieces are wearable art, made to layer, love, and collect.
We sat down with Catherine to talk about her story, her inspiration, and what this collab means to her.
Q: Catherine, tell us a little about yourself. How did you first fall in love with art?
Catherine: I’ve always been drawn to color. Growing up in Fort Worth, I was the kid who was constantly doodling, painting, and making something out of nothing. Over time, that curiosity turned into a career, and now I get to share my art in ways I never could’ve imagined.
Q: Where do you usually find your inspiration?
Catherine: Nature is always my starting point. I’m especially inspired by butterflies, florals, and anything that symbolizes growth and change. I love translating those ideas into color and form—it’s playful, but it always carries deeper meaning.
Q: What was the process like designing with Allie + Bess?
Catherine: So collaborative and fun. Allie and Bess encouraged me to bring my own voice to the designs, and together we found the perfect way to merge my painterly style with their bold, stackable jewelry. That’s how the scarf necklace and butterfly charm came to life.
Q: Do you have a favorite piece from the collab?
Catherine: The Butterfly Scarf Necklace Set feels extra special to me because it’s such a fresh concept for Allie + Bess. It’s playful, versatile, and makes such a statement. But I also love the Butterfly Statement Charm because it feels like a little piece of art you can carry with you.
Q: How do you hope people feel when they wear these designs?
Catherine: Inspired. Whether it’s the colors, the shapes, or the symbolism, I want people to feel a spark of joy every time they put them on. Jewelry should be fun—it should feel like you.
