For this special Dish Drop, we partnered with an artist whose work feels deeply personal, beautifully intentional, and made for real life. Meet Yolanda, the creative force behind YFL Art & Décor, a brand rooted in storytelling, slow making, and creating pieces meant to be used and loved every day.

Tell us a bit about yourself and YFL Art. What inspired you to start making art?

I am Yolanda, the artist behind YFL Art & Décor. Art has always been a constant in my life, from studying art in college to using creativity as a form of self expression and grounding. For a season, art lived as a side project while I focused on growing and caring for my young family.

After experiencing miscarriage and navigating mental and other health challenges, art became more than creative. It became deeply therapeutic and a way to process, heal, and tell the story of my life.

My work has evolved alongside that journey. It moved from dark, moody acrylic landscapes during harder seasons, to bright and colorful florals after my children were born, to whimsical watercolor illustrations as they grew, and now to functional home decor designed for busy, lived in homes.

What began in a small work from home studio has grown into a brand rooted in intentional design, slow making, and creating meaningful objects meant to be used, loved, and lived with every day.

How would you describe your creative style, and how does it show up in this collaboration?

My creative style reflects my current energy, mindspace, heart, and soul. It moves fluidly from light and airy to bold and expressive, from minimal to richly textural. I do not follow strict rules or trends. If something influences my work, it is because it resonates emotionally.

In this collaboration, that instinct shows up through thoughtful details like the heart shaped form that mirrors the heart pendant, along with bold, feminine colors that feel confident and intentional. The design feels balanced and elevated and is meant to complement the jewelry rather than compete with it. It is a piece that feels cohesive, collectible, and meant to be cherished and used.

Where do you usually find inspiration for your designs?

I find inspiration in real life. Nature, architecture, travel, and everyday rituals all play a role. Light, movement, and texture are important parts of my process, as is thinking about how a piece will be used and lived with. I want each design to feel both beautiful and functional.

What does collaboration mean to you as an artist?

Collaboration is about shared vision, trust, and mutual respect. I love the energy that comes from creating alongside another brand and working through ideas together. Every collaboration becomes a moment of growth and evolution in my craft.

When working with a brand, I take time to understand their story, aesthetic, and values, then thoughtfully weave my creative voice into their world. It is a balance of honoring my own process while creating something intentional and meaningful for both audiences.
